DSAOC Tours NEW Adult Primary Care Down Syndrome Clinic

7/14/2016

***DSAOC Announces NEW Adult Down Syndrome Clinic at UC Irvine Family Health Center***   DSAOC met with Dr. Emily Dow, Chief Medical Officer of UC Irvine Family Health Centers, and her team, for a meeting and tour of the location where Orange County’s first Adult Primary Care Down Syndrome Clinic opened to our community in March of this year.  Joining DSAOC was Dr. Ira Lott, DSAOC Board Member, Pediatric Neurologist at UCI and CHOC Children’s, and Professor Emeritus, UCI School of Medicine, as well as Eric Doran MS, Manager, Down Syndrome Program, Dept of Pediatrics at UC Irvine Health.

Dr. Dow started a clinic for adults with Down syndrome at the UCI FHC Santa Ana in March, 2016, with the purpose of providing high quality primary care with a focus on those transitioning from pediatric to adult care.  She will conduct health screening and disease prevention using the most current health care guidelines, and coordinate team-based care in conjunction with case managers, social workers, and other health professionals.  There will be specialist referrals as needed and involvement of families in educating and anticipating the needs of the adult with Down syndrome.

Appointments can be made for “FHC Down Syndrome Clinic” at the UCI FHC Santa Ana through UC Irvine Health’s Call Center at 714-456-7002.
