FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE iBN Sports Teams Up With the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County to Broadcast the Annual “Buddy Walk” November 8th Event at Anaheim Stadium Will be Broadcast LIVE on iBNSports.com and www.dsaoc.org Foothill Ranch, Calif. – November 4, 2009 – On November 8th, Internet television network iBN Sports will step outside its traditional sports programming schedule to broadcast the Buddy Walk, an annual event to raise awareness and acceptance for people affected by Down Syndrome. The event will be held at Anaheim Stadium and is presented by the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County (DSAOC) whom iBN Sports supports by producing and streaming their video content. Buddy Walk is a national campaign by the National Down Syndrome Society and several events take place throughout the country this time of year. The DSAOC services a large population of families affected by Down Syndrome, stretching beyond the boundaries of Orange County, and the event at Anaheim Stadium always gets a large turnout of community supporters. “Over the years, Buddy Walk has become much more than just a walk.” Says Lanny Hardy, Executive Director of the DSAOC. “It’s really turned into a celebration that highlights how much people with Down syndrome can achieve if given the opportunity to reach their full potential at school, at work, and in the community.” The walk itself is an empowering group trek around the perimeter of the stadium as families and their support networks team up and walk as one. Their mission is clear: strive to raise awareness and promote acceptance of people with Down syndrome in all aspects of life. When the walk is complete and funds have been raised, the crowd is treated to a short concert by “The English Beat.” “Our network is about much more than sports,” says iBN Sports CEO John Mudge. “We are a family focused and community oriented network that goes beyond the fields of play and often into the homes to get the story.
That is why iBN Sports is so excited to support such a wonderful charity that is all about the families and these wonderful kids."
