The Buddy Walk was initiated in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to unify parent organizations across the nation and raise awareness about people with Down syndrome.
The Down Syndrome Association of Orange County (DSAOC) hosts this annual awareness and fundraising event at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim each fall in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month (October).
The Orange County Buddy Walk is the largest fundraiser and awareness raiser for DSAOC, and brings together individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and other community supporters for a fun-filled, meaningful day.
Families, organizations and companies who register for the OC Buddy Walk enjoy a day of fun activities, meeting informational and recreational exhibitors, live stage performances, special guests, exciting attractions, and photo opp’s on a major league baseball field. The actual Walk is just a small portion of this awesome event, and allows attendees to get a feel of just how many people are joining in unity to support Down syndrome awareness in greater Orange County. Teams create signs and banners announcing their team names, and even personalize event shirts to include their team name, as well as a photo of their loved one with Down syndrome.
You, too, can join more than 2,500 people at this exciting and meaningful event, and support the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County and Down syndrome initiatives throughout greater Orange County. Register a team, join a team, register as an individual, or donate to your favorite team. You can also become a recognized event Sponsor with a sponsorship donation of $1,000 or more, and your logo will be included on the event brochure, on all event t-shirts, on the stadium jumbo-tron, social media and event signage.
